2015: Best of.
I'm taking full of snowy January days by cuddling up inside and trying my hardest to make a vision for the year ahead and plan for some of the fun ideas I've been tossing around. But I don't think you can move forward without first taking a look at what you've done and where you've been. And it was so interesting to look at you favorite posts from 2015! I've rounded them up here, just for fun and picked out some of my favorite words from each. A mix of your faves and mine. Just in case you missed one or want some reading for you Saturday morning. :)
What if God is stripping things away because He needs us to be lighter for the journey? What if He’s getting us ready to run? What if He's preparing us for something that has no room for trinkets that steal our identity from Him?
What if He just wants to meet us face to face? Without all of the layers of things, possessions, words, identities that we stack on ourselves?
What if we stopped putting on identities like costumes?
Because that’s my heart song right now. “Explore. Go. There’s more.”
That’s what my life has been lately. Exploring all the possibilities. Exploring new cities. Exploring the unique ways God has wired me. Exploring all the passions He’s given me. Exploring life beyond the walls I thought I needed to build into my life.
That’s what I want this space to be. Exploring the way God works through the messy of life. Exploring the world through adventures and photographs and community. Exploring what it means to live a meaningful life in a chaotic world.
My absolute favorite images I’ve ever shot have literally been when I have zero plans. When we go out and just explore. When we have fun and laugh a lot and be really goofy. When we experiment. When we try and fail and try again.
There’s something liberating about that place. When there’s no pressure to make it to this place or do that thing. When you’re not really sure how any of it’s going to turn out and but you’re doing your best and having a whole lot of fun along the way.
Maybe that’s how all of life should be.
Sometimes we have to ride out some unpleasant seasons or we’ll miss the greatness waiting for us on the other side. And those wrenches in the plan, those things that hold us up and make us want to scream? They’re trying to get us to slow down, so we don’t speed past the things we are meant to experience.
